Strictly Come Dancing final: Rose and Giovanni win the 2021 series
Rose Ayling-Ellis has been crowned winner of Strictly Come Dancing 2021 along with specialized dance partner Giovanni Pernice.
And weeks before lifting the glitterball trophy for her impressive final performance, EastEnders actress Rose – the first ever deaf contenstant – had already made history when she scored complete marks for her tango, which was the earliest in the series judges have handed out 40 points.

The final came after an eventful series which saw just two couples left in the final – Rose Ayling-Ellis and Giovanni Pernice and John Whaite and Johannes Radebe, the series first all-male pairing.
Third finalist AJ Odudu had to pull out 24 hours before the final because of injury. You can see what she and her dance partner, Kai Widdrington, had to say, here.
Both finalists were judged on three dances by the panel but their marks didn’t count as it was all down to the viewers’ vote.
Rose, Strictly’s first deaf contestant, and Giovanni performed a Quickstep to Love Is An Open Door from Frozen The Musical, their associate’s Choice to Symphony by Clean Bandit featuring Zara Larsson and their Showdance to The Rose by Bette Midler.
Their associate’s Choice dance hindered the nation as the duo danced in silence for a section during the middle of their routine.
During the final, Giovanni told Rose that she was the ‘best thing that ever happened in my life’. You can read more about that here.
John and Johannes’ dances were a Rumba to Shape of My Heart by Sting, Paso Doble to He’s a Pirate by Klaus Badelt, from Pirates of the Caribbean and their Showdance to You’ve Got The Love by Florence + the Machine.
