Elton John’s husband David Furnish has paid Meghan Markle a huge compliment by branding her an “amazing leader”.
The 58-year-old also labelled her a “fantastic collaborator” after the pair connected up for her new animated series on Netflix.
David has played a role in bringing the new series, which is partly based on the Duchess of Sussex’s childhood, to the screens.
And he has nothing but nice things to say about the former Suits star. Speaking at the HELLO! Inspiration Awards, he gushed: “She’s a fantastic collaborator, amazing leader.
“And we’re just very, very excited to be working with, you know, someone as influential and as supportive as Netflix.”
The series comes after Meghan’s children’s book release. Her book, titled The Bench, was inspired by a poem she had written for Prince Harry and featured an range of snaps of the pair with son Archie.
For the new TV series, Meghan takes on the role of creator and executive producer for the first time.
She said in a statement the series will focus on “celebrating extraordinary women,” adding: “Like many girls her age, our heroine Pearl is on a journey of self-discovery as she tries to conquer life’s daily challenges.
“I’m thrilled that Archewell Productions, partnered with the powerhouse platform of Netflix, and these incredible producers, will together bring you this new animated series, which celebrates extraordinary women throughout history.”
The main character’s name – Pearl – comes from the original meaning of Meghan’s name.
David additional: “I am delighted that we are finally able to announce this exciting animated series.
“Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex and I are deeply passionate about bringing the inspirational and positive stories of extraordinary women from around the world to a global audience of all ages.
“The team collaborating on the series are first class, and Netflix are the perfect partner.”
David and husband Elton were part of the guest list for Meghan and Harry’s wedding in 2018, with Harry’s mum Princess Diana once close friends with the singer.
The positive comments come after Meghan was branded “Duchess Difficult” by the author of the updated book Meghan: A Hollywood Princess.
Andrew Morton claimed Meghan “got it in the neck” as being “Duchess Difficult” already though it was the prince who “threw a bit of a fit” over a tiara in the rule up to the pair’s wedding.
According to one of the new chapters in the unauthorised biography, Harry lost his cool in the run-up to the wedding when the tiara could not be made obtainable for Meghan’s hair fitting with her stylist.
